The project, “Empowering Youth in Liptako with Gender-Transformative Actions to Overcome Gendered Norms that Hinder Women’s Role in PVE” aims to contribute to challenging the norms that marginalize women’s contributions to PVE efforts and peacebuilding and promote women participation in PVE and peacebuilding in the Liptako region.
The project has challenged the gender norm related to the belief that men are inherently more capable of participating in security-related activities and decision-making processes. This norm leads to the exclusion of women from PVE efforts and peacebuilding initiatives, as their involvement is perceived as less relevant or valuable.

To address this issue, ONG Recup has launched the “Empowering Youth in Liptako with Gender Transformative Actions to Overcome Gendered Norms that Hinder Women’s Role in PVE” project with the overall goal of empowering youth in the Liptako region to challenge entrenched gender dynamics that hinder women’s participation in Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) efforts and peacebuilding.

The Project Goals
- Empower youth advocacy: The project has trained youth to implement initiatives promoting gender equality in decision-making processes, particularly focusing on enhancing women’s participation in PVE efforts in the Liptako region. Through targeted training, participatns have gained the skills and knowledge necessary to advocate for and support women’s involvement in peacebuilding activities.
- Conduct community-based awareness: Youth are mentored in promoting women’s active participation about the importance of women’s roles in inclusion in PVE within the Liptako region. With organizing workshops, dialogues, and advocacy campaigns, participants will engage with local communities to challenge gender norms and foster inclusivity.
- Establish youth collaboration for change: The project will establish a collaborative network among youth in the Liptako region to sustain their engagement in challenging gender norms that marginalize women’s participation in PVE. Through ongoing dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collective action, participants help to amplify women’s voices, promote their role in PVE efforts, and continue advocating for gender equality beyond the project’s duration.
